Activities for young people this half-term in Horsham District

Throughout the October half-term Horsham District Council and partners have created a programme of events and activities to support young people and parents across the Horsham District. Active partners include Southwater Youth Project, 4theYouth and Sussex Clubs for Young People.

Drop-in events

No need to book for our Talking tents or the youth club drop-in sessions: just turn up!

Neighbourhood warden Talking Tents

Talking Tents will be popping up at various locations across the District including Horsham, Southwater, Billingshurst, Ashington, Storrington, Steyning and Pulborough. The sessions provide an opportunity for people to drop-in for a friendly and supportive chat where they can discuss any issues concerning young people.

Thursday 28 October 2-5pm, by the green shelter on Station Road Gardens

  • Youth Club drop in at The Depot in Billingshurst (83a High Street): 12pm-3pm

  • Upper Beeding Youth Club: Junior Years 5 & 6, 3.30pm – 5.30pm Upper Beeding Seniors Years 7 to 11 6.30pm – 8.30pm
  • Emotional Wellbeing drop-in, years 7-11: Horsham United Reformed Church, 2pm - 5pm.

  • Purple Bus at Pulborough Recreation Ground, 12pm – 2pm.
  • Ashington Youth Club (Church Lane) for years 5-7, 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

  • Ashington Youth Club 7pm - 9pm, years 8-11.
  • Emotional Wellbeing drop-in, years 7-11 United reform church, Horsham town. 2pm - 5pm.

Bookable sessions

The following sessions need to be booked in advance.

  • Bushcraft cooking day at the Forest School Youth Wing (4theYyouth)
  • Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest - £30 including entry (concessions available), all 10 mazes and dinner (4theYouth).
  • Halloween Disco for years 6 – 8 at Forest School Youth Wing (4theYouth).
  • Junior neon and pizza party years 5-8, 6:30pm - 8pm, The Ghyll Southwater (Email Southwater youth project to book)
  • Halloween themed movie night for years 6–7, Forest School Youth Wing (4theYouth).

The activities are part of a wider programme being planned by Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council and Public Health in response to the increased demand to provide support for young people around health and wellbeing. More information on this wider programme which looks to support and engage with young people across the District throughout 2021 and 2022 will be available soon. Where necessary concessions are available.

Understanding your teenagers behaviour

Additional support is available for parents including a free six week Understanding Teenage Behaviour Course which starts on 10 November and is being held in Horsham from 7pm-9.30pm. This course is designed to support communication between parents and teenagers.

This course is funded by the District Council but places are limited.  To book a space or find out more please contact communitysafety@horsham.gov.uk

Further support around health and wellbeing is available through The Horsham District Wellbeing Centre in Horsham Town Centre (Unit 4a The Forum) it is staffed by Horsham District Council’s Wellbeing team and funded by Public Health. These services are targeted toward adults and focus primarily on interventions however where appropriate and possible staff can signpost to other services as necessary.
