Check the Building Control Registers
We keep a database of works carried out from January 2004 onwards. These records can be accessed online and are split into two registers:
- the Building Control Register
- the Competent Person Register
Please note, this is not a complete database of all information held by the Council. Please do not rely on this information as an alternative to a formal Land Charge Search.
We do not hold documents for any applications which have been closed for 15 years or more.
Building Control Register
The Building Control Register is a list of building control applications for works on commercial and residential properties in Horsham District. Use it to find:
- Application number
- Site address
- Description of work
- Case Officer name
- Application status

Competent Person Register
The Competent Person Register is a list of work completed by competent persons in Horsham District. A competent person is someone who can self-certify that their work complies with Building Regulations.
Use the Competent Person Register to find:
- Name of installer
- Description of work
- Date of completion
- Application type and reference number
