The central home energy support designed by Local Authorities in West Sussex. It includes details of energy grants and schemes available to Horsham District residents.

Warmer Homes: Local Grant
Fully funded energy efficiency improvements for owner occupiers and private tenures who need it most.
Please note - the grant scheme is currently oversubscribed.

UK Government grants
Find details below of four UK Government grant schemes which may be able to help you.
Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
Energy efficiency improvements funded through your energy company. You need to live in a property requiring energy efficiency upgrades and receive benefits OR have a combined gross annual household income under £31,000.
Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS)
Part of the government led ECO4 scheme – mostly to deliver single insulation improvements, i.e. loft or cavity wall insulation.
Available to low-income and vulnerable households, as well as homes with an Energy Performance Certificate rating between D-G and within Council Tax bands A-D.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
A grant to help property owners overcome the upfront cost of low-carbon heating technologies such as biomass boilers and heat pumps.

Discretionary Safe Suitable and Warm Homes Grant
Applicants must be on a low income and have a health condition. This scheme is subject to a financial assessment (means test) to determine eligibility.
Park homes insulation grants
Financial assistance to help insulate park homes. For residents who are on means tested benefits and have health conditions.
Housing repair and renovation loans
Disabled Facility Grants, Minor Repairs Assistance and Repair Assistance available to qualifying households. Please contact Environmental Health for details 01403 215461.

Solar Together
A West Sussex County Council led scheme for group buying solar PV and battery storage systems.
Expected to open Autumn 2025.

Help paying your energy bills
Local support - grants, discounts and exemptions to help with energy costs and bills.
Winter fuel payment – £100-£300 to help you to pay your heating bills. Automatic payment to anyone born before 22 September 1959.
Cold weather payment – £25 for each 7-day period of very cold weather between 1 November and 31 March. Available to those with certain benefits.
Household support fund – Energy support for those experiencing financial hardship with no alternative option available.
Warm Home Discount Scheme – To reopen in October 2025. A one-off £150 discount off your electricity bill.
SSEN Enabling Works Fund – Up to £1,500 for residents on a low-income that live in Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks area.
