Help with Energy Costs
Grants, discounts and exemptions are available for some households to help with energy costs and bills.

- Crisis and Resilience Fund, West Sussex County Council
The UK government started the Crisis and Resilience Fund in April 2026. The fund will run until 31 March 2029.
The government designed the fund to help people:
- plan ahead to avoid a possible crisis
- find joined-up support in their local community
- on low incomes manage a crisis
The Crisis and Resilience Fund replaces the Household Support Fund and has different rules.
West Sussex County Council uses the fund to improve services that help people to get advice. This will help them to avoid future crisis. The fund may be used to give a crisis payment to people who have a sudden emergency. You can find examples on available support here.
- West Sussex County Council Community Hub emergencies only
The Community Hub provides residents with individually tailored information, advice and guidance. We help with a range of queries by directing people to local services whilst encouraging those in need to access longer term support and prevent future crisis.
Open 365 days a year, our team of officers are also able to support with queries and applications linked to the schemes we currently support including the Crisis and Resilience Fund, Homes for Ukraine Scheme & Smoke Free West Sussex.
- Citizens Advice: Home energy telephone service
Information and advice about energy problems, including bills, meters or what to do if you're struggling to pay for energy use.
- Horsham Matters
This charity provides practical help and support to the community by providing essential food, energy, advice and household essentials. We work with partners to create sustainable solutions to wellbeing. Self referral or referral by partner agency.
- LEAP
Local energy advice partnership. Supporting people who are at risk of going into fuel poverty.
- West Sussex Energy
Hints and tips on heating your home and saving energy. Provides householders, frontline works, councillors and health/community workers with advice on local home energy schemes and support services.
