Climate change is a challenge that affects us all - our homes, our health, and the environment we share. We’re committed to taking practical steps to tackle climate change and we are working closely with local partners and communities to help make it happen.
Our Climate Action Strategy
Our Climate Action Strategy is designed to help us build a more climate-resilient district together. It outlines the policies, projects, and actions that are already underway, as well as future plans that will shape a sustainable future for everyone. We want to make it easy for everyone to see what’s happening, get inspired, and even get involved.
Explore local climate action
- Read our updated plans online
We’ve worked with partners, businesses, community groups, and neighbouring councils to update our Strategy and share our progress. - Explore our refreshed webpages
Discover the latest actions, projects, and initiatives that are helping to create a greener District. - Use our interactive ‘One Planet’ tool
Some 16 parish and neighbourhood councils and eight environment-based community groups are supporting our climate action work so far by joining us in using a new online climate action platform known as One Planet. This online mapping tool will enable us to not only manage, track, and report on our own Climate Action progress, but also allows communities taking action on climate change to see what others are doing and explore options for collaboration. - Find real stories and case studies
Get inspired by how others are making a difference in their communities. Visit our Get Involved web pages to find out about grants and funding and associated case studies, discover local community action groups, and be inspired by some of our tips and suggestions. - See connections
See how our actions link to wider county strategies, national goals, and more local climate action.
Why climate action matters
Small actions add up to big changes. By taking steps to reduce our environmental impact, we not only help the planet but also manage rising costs and improve our quality of life. Alongside our Strategy, you can find plans of organisations and groups near you to explore what’s happening on a district-wide or more local scale.
