Step into nature and discover the extraordinary world of trees at the Sussex Tree Festival 2026

Running from late May to  early June across the county, this vibrant, community-led festival builds on last year’s success to bring together an expanded programme of walks, talks, creative workshops and family-friendly events in towns, parks and countryside locations.

Something for all ages

You can explore ancient woodlands, uncover the stories of rare and “champion” trees, and enjoy guided walks led by leading experts, ecologists and local enthusiasts. Families can dive into hands-on experiences, from forest school sessions and storytelling adventures to art, craft and interactive nature discovery, including a guided walk in both Horsham and Washington.

New for 2026

There are now even more immersive and creative events, including writing and art workshops in nature, celebrations of city trees with music and performance, and opportunities to encounter wildlife and even prehistoric tree fossils.

Photographic competition and exhibition

This much-loved competition returns this year, inviting you to share your personal connection to trees.

Why trees are vital for all of us

Trees are vital to tackling climate change, supporting biodiversity and improving our wellbeing.

This festival is not just about appreciation, it’s about action. Learn how to plant, protect and care for trees, and join a growing movement dedicated to restoring Sussex’s natural environment.  Most events are free or low-cost, making it easy to get involved.

Whether you’re a nature lover, curious explorer or looking for a great day out, come and be inspired, because when we care for trees, we care for our future.
