Kingslea pupils get a sneak peek of new Horsham play area

An exciting new play area for Horsham Park was put through its paces on Friday 16 October as pupils from Kingslea Primary School enjoyed the chance to test out the new adventure trail and play equipment ahead of its opening.

The new improved play facilities, aimed primarily at eight to 11 year olds, are part of an upgraded development by Horsham District Council which is set to open on 24 October just before the half-term school holidays.

The area is situated in the northern part of the Horsham Park play area alongside the Pavilions in the Park Car Park and has been completely renewed with an exciting trail including a series of sprawling net play structures to take children on an adventure up to a large tree house on the top of the existing grass hill.

The new structures also include a large rope hammock and wind chimes which enable children with limited mobility to be engaged with this part of the play area.

The play area improvement has been funded through contributions from local planning developments and is aimed at providing space for more children to play in an imaginative and challenging way.

Commenting on the new development, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Horsham Town Centre Cllr Peter Burgess said:

“I am delighted that our plans for this new play area have come to fruition.

“It was wonderful to see the new facilities being enjoyed so much by the school children from Kingslea school and my thanks go out to them for coming along and giving us their very positive feedback on all the new play equipment.

The Council is pleased to be supporting these much needed community projects as provision of high quality play equipment is one of its key priorities.
