Vote for your favourite Horsham District Christmas window display for a chance to win free tickets to The Capitol

08 Dec 2020

What is your favourite Christmas window display in your town or village?

Horsham District Council is delighted to be launching this year’s search for the District’s best festive window displays with its Window Wonderland 2020 competition.

Running from today (8 December) until Christmas Eve, shoppers are asked to upload their photos of wonderful Christmas windows from shops and businesses across Horsham District tagged #hdwindowwonderland to the Horsham Time Well Spent Facebook page or on Instagram before Wednesday 16 December.

We'll upload all the photos on Friday 18 December and you can then tell us which is your favourite - one person voting will win tickets for a family of four to a show in the New Year at Horsham’s Capitol theatre. You'll have until 24 December to comment and we'll announce the winner in early January.

There will be an award for best window in each town, (Horsham, Billingshurst, Pulborough, Storrington, Steyning and Henfield) and an overall Best in the District Window winner will be chosen by a panel of independent judges from the Chichester College Group and the Metamorphosis Group. The winning businesses will each receive a plaque to put on display and the overall winner, a generous £250 voucher to spend with sponsor, packaging and display specialists, WBC.co.uk

Window Wonderland is the Council’s annual district-wide focus on independent traders’ shop windows and point of display displays.  Businesses are being provided with a Chichester College Group online video with hints and tips for effective displays tailored to the challenges and opportunities presented by social distancing via the Horsham Business Support Group Facebook page. This year we are also putting the focus on building sales per customer with impulse purchases and using click and collect effectively.

Commenting on the Christmas themed competition, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for the Local Economy Cllr Paul Clarke said:

“I am delighted that we are repeating our successful Christmas window display competition across the whole District again this year, which will benefit so many local traders and bring with it plenty of festive spirit.

This year, more than ever before, it is important to celebrate our amazing range of independent businesses and support them all after such challenging times.

“Our excellent selection of independent retailers are always a real attraction for shoppers and this competition will really showcase their products and services to best effect, adding to the overall customer experience this Christmas and enticing shoppers to stop, look and pop in to the stores.”
