The Council has also made funds available to Parish and Neighbourhood Councils across the whole District, supporting local events and enabling everyone in the community to celebrate.

The Queen's Green Canopy

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a nationwide sustainable tree planting project. It has been created to mark the Platinum Jubilee in 2022 with the aim of creating a legacy which will benefit generations to come.

Across the UK, people are being invited to ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’.  You can get involved by planting a small tree in your garden, or by supporting your local community, school or business to plant a tree of their own in their grounds.

Commenting on the weekend’s events, Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture Cllr Roger Noel said:

Throughout the Horsham District we have seen communities stepping up to help, volunteer, and continue to come together after what has been the most challenging few years. The most valuable and powerful thing we have is our communities, and the Jubilee weekend provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate as a community and unite behind marking The Queen’s amazing dedication and achievement in ruling for 70 years.

There are going to be celebrations galore going on throughout our District for all ages. Our respectful, ceremonial event at The Capitol on Thursday will be a truly unique commemoration. On the Friday we want as many people as possible to come along to our Jubilee street party in the Carfax and enjoy all the fun entertainments on offer .I know that lots of parishes and neighbourhoods are also hosting their own parties to welcome their communities together.

As we celebrate a momentous milestone for Her Majesty, our plans provide a chance for people across our District to experience a feeling of togetherness and to look forward with confidence.

I'm really looking forward to the celebrations. Let's show the nation just how proud we are of Her Majesty The Queen.
