Skatepark open day to be held in Horsham Park

Everybody is welcome to come along to a skate park open day event in Horsham Park aimed at encouraging more people of all ages and abilities to have a go at the sports of skate boarding, BMX, scooter and inline skating.

Horsham District Council is working in partnership with professional demo group Team Extreme to create the event which will take place from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 3 June at Horsham Park’s new skatepark.

The Team Extreme team of pro-riders will be leading workshops, offering coaching sessions, giving professional tips and tricks to improve your riding, running mini competitions for riders of all ages and abilities and performing demo sessions throughout the day.

Sign up on the day is essential to take part, sign up opens from 11am. All under 18’s must have parental consent to take part.  All riders taking part must wear helmets and food and drinks will be available.

The timetable for the open day is as follows:

  • From 11.00am - Competition and Coaching sign ups
  • 11.30am - Team Extreme Pro-rider demo
  • 11.50am - Coaching and workshops
  • 1.00pm - Team Extreme Pro-rider demo
  • 1.30pm - Workshops and free riding
  • 3.00pm - Team Extreme Pro-rider demo
  • 3.20pm - Mini Competitions (including Spot Comps / Highest Hop/ Highest Ollie and more)
  • 5.45pm - Team Extreme Pro-rider demo

The skatepark, which was opened in December of 2022, was designed in collaboration with a local user group.

Local skateboarders, BMX enthusiasts, scooter riders and inline skaters can enjoy some of the best facilities in the area thanks to the new park.

The park contains some of the highest quality features for each of the wheeled disciplines. It has been made from concrete to ensure users have a fast and perfectly smooth ride with plenty of flow lines to choose from.

It’s going to provide a great opportunity to try out the new facilities and develop new skills under the expert coaching of Team Extreme.

As a council we are delighted that we have created this special place, an amazing free facility which will draw people of all ages and abilities from across the Horsham District and beyond.
