Last chance to make your future business space needs known

Composure Accounting enjoy their survey prize at Major Mindgames

There are just two weeks left for Horsham District businesses and entrepreneurs to share their views about their future business space needs.

Horsham District Council and its survey partners will use the results of the online business survey to provide valuable insight and build a picture of local business space needs for the future.

All survey respondents are invited to enter a fortnightly prize draw. Some winning survey respondents have been enjoying free team building experiences at Major Mindgames Escape Rooms of Horsham.

This is the last chance for businesses to complete this short 10-minute survey before it closes on 31 July.

Complete the survey

As part of a preliminary analysis, the survey has revealed some interesting trends so far including:

  • 53% of respondents are looking for more business space, saying the primary purpose of their workspace will be having a place for team collaboration
  • 39% of businesses are looking to keep their current business space, and are considering renewable or recycled energy as an opportunity for investment
  • 76% of businesses looking for a new site are likely to choose Horsham District as its location, whether they are looking to expand or reduce their space.

If you’re a local business, the Council and its survey partners need to know whether these trends reflect your needs. What will be the primary purpose of your business space going forward? What opportunities for investment are there at your current premises? Where would you like your business to be based in the future? Whatever your needs, there is the opportunity for businesses to highlight specific details, but all survey data will be anonymised for analysis of trends.

Cllr Ruth Fletcher, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Local Economy and Place, commented:

Please let us have your views on business space in the next two weeks.

I urge all businesses to complete this survey whether they’re looking for less space, more space or are staying the same.

Every response will count towards providing a more comprehensive overview of local needs which could prove valuable for informing the Council with its economic development and planning support services.

All survey respondents are invited to enter the prize draw.

One winner, local business Composure Accounting, recently enjoyed their team building prize. Commenting on their experience, director Carolyn Burchell said:

Filling in the business space needs survey was an opportunity for us to have our say on our future workspace needs. It’s especially relevant for us right now because we are looking for office space for our growing business. What’s more, it led us to win a great team building prize!

We were a bit nervous about trying out an escape room but we needn’t have worried.  Josh from Major Mind Games told us everything we needed to know and made us all laugh as well. We chose “The Super Pack” which is their newest room and it didn’t disappoint. We had a lot of fun solving the Super Hero puzzles and getting the team together out of the office was a real lift for everyone. We are currently recruiting some new members for our team and will definitely go back once they are on board as it was a great way to get to know each better and to allow people to take on a different role than they might do in a normal working day.

A number of business partners have expressed an interest in the survey results, including developers Muse Places and L&G/Cala, who both have significant approved sites “Larksfield Place” (ex-Novartis site in Horsham) and “Mowbray” (North Horsham) respectively. Other partners include Freedom Works,a regional flexible business operator, Visit Horsham, who in partnership with the Council have recently launched an online directory of local flexible business spaces and the University of Brighton who have recognised the significance of the data the survey could provide.
