Community Climate Fund

New applications are now being welcomed for Horsham District Council’s Community Climate Fund, which enables voluntary and community groups, as well as Parish and Neighbourhood Councils to develop projects which will deliver long-term, tangible climate benefits for Horsham District.

Applications must be for new initiatives which will help reduce carbon emissions in the priority areas of:

  • Reducing energy, water or waste consumption
  • Increasing biodiversity
  • Encouraging use of public transport, cycling or walking.

The Council launched the Community Climate Fund in July 2020 and is delighted that already some 38 applications have been successful, enabling local groups to make a real positive impact on our environment.

The Council provides full support and advice throughout the application process which is completely free of charge.

The free advice package helps in areas such as setting up an appropriate organisation, completing your grant funding application form and supporting documents which are very straight forward, and promoting your achievements so that other groups can learn and benefit from your experience.

Commenting on the Community Climate Fund, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Nature Recovery Cllr Colette Blackburn said:

“As a council we are keen to involve everyone in the challenge to reduce the negative impacts of climate change.

“I am delighted that so many groups have been successful in their applications for funding and are already making such a valuable contribution to protect our environment.

“With a new tranche of funds available and plenty of free advice on offer I would encourage as many of you as possible to consider making an application. If you are committed to tackling climate change we’d love to hear from you.”

The new tranche of funding is available from Monday 3 July for six weeks until Sunday 13 August.

The funds must be used for brand new projects, which will last beyond the funding provided by the Council, and include a commitment to inform the wider community about the project and encourage others to take action.
