Wellbeing showcases services to healthcare professionals

Horsham District Council’s Wellbeing Hub team recently hosted a showcase of their health and wellbeing services to local healthcare professionals from across the Horsham District.

A broad range of healthcare professionals attended the event including the NHS Neuro Rehabilitation team and Musculoskeletal team, The Stroke Association, West Sussex Carers Support, West Sussex County Council Prevention Assessment team, West Sussex Talking Therapies, Horsham Emotional Wellbeing Service, Citizen Advice and representatives from several local GP surgeries amongst others.

Taylor Pierce, Health and Wellbeing Team Leader at the Wellbeing Hub delivered a presentation giving a more in-depth overview about the services on offer and led a question and answer session for attendees who also had the opportunity to meet our Wellbeing Advisors. Various interactive display tables were available to view in order to illustrate the types of free services on offer which include:

  • Quitting smoking
  • Alcohol awareness and reduction
  • Healthy eating and weight loss
  • Getting active
  • Improving strength and balance
  • Wellbeing checks (MOTs and NHS Health Checks)
  • Wellbeing support for workplaces

Commenting on the event, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Leisure and Culture Cllr David Skipp said: “It was a pleasure to welcome so many different healthcare professionals to our Wellbeing Hub. Many of the Hub’s referrals do come from healthcare professionals but it will be good to build upon this figure.

The free of charge services on offer by the Hub are more popular than ever and it is great to see so many people benefitting from them.

"Based in the heart of the town centre makes it really easy for people to pop in and have a chat with our friendly advisors in such a welcoming environment.”

The Horsham District Health and Wellbeing Hub is in Swan Walk Shopping Centre (near the car park lifts) in Horsham Town Centre.

The Centre is staffed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 4.30pm and Wednesdays 1pm to 5pm. Evening appointments are available on request.

The Wellbeing Service also offers regular outreach clinics in Henfield, Billingshurst, Steyning and Storrington.
