Textiles and small electricals recycling collection
Our collection service is changing and the Council will no longer be taking bookings for collections of textiles or working electrical items from Friday 4 September. This service will now be provided by Anglo Doorstep Collections.

Book a collection to take place after 4 September
For collections after 4 September, Anglo Doorstep Collections will be collecting textiles and working electrical items.
Anglo Doorstep Collections operates one of the UK's largest reuse collection networks, providing free doorstep collections of unwanted household items including clothing, shoes, books, toys, small electricals, kitchenware, tools, linen and bric-a-brac.

The service currently carries out more than 40,000 household collections every month and collects over 1,100 tonnes of reusable goods for reuse and re-homing.
By using the service, residents can help extend the life of reusable items, support charitable causes and contribute towards the council's waste reduction and circular economy objectives.

If you have broken or obsolete electrical items, including vapes, or any electrical item that will not be suitable for reuse, these will continue to be collected by Horsham District Council Door Step Collection Service.

What happens to my textiles once they are collected?
Horsham District Council is partnered with JMP Wilcox to run the textiles collection recycling service.
Once donated, your garments will be sorted and graded by JMP Wilcox and all re-usable items are exported to countries where many people are unable to afford new clothing.
More than 90% of the material JMP Wilcox collects exported to over 30 countries around the world.
Anything unsuitable is either recycled or disposed of within the UK. This enables the company to find a new life for over 98% of the clothing collected.
What happens to my electricals once they are collected?
Small electricals are processed at a specialist facility which breaks down the component parts and then recycles them into something new.
What to do with replaceable batteries from electrical items
You can recycle replaceable batteries on your bin collection day with our simple collection service.
Simply place your batteries in a small, clear plastic bag (such as a sandwich bag) and place the bag on top of your green-top refuse bin or your blue-top recycling bin on collection day.

- Take it to a Recycling Centre where it can be recycled or disposed of safely
