Check food hygiene ratings
Food businesses are required by law to be inspected. We carry out these inspections as part of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. You can read the hygiene requirements for businesses on the Food Standards Agency website.
Once inspected, a business is given a Food Hygiene Rating between 0 and 5. 0 means urgent improvement is required; 5 means the hygiene standards are very good.
Currently eight out of every ten inspected businesses within the Horsham District achieve a high grading of 4 (‘Good’) or 5 (‘Very good’).
All Food Hygiene Ratings are available to search online. Most businesses will also display their rating as a sticker in their window. If they don’t, it’s worth asking why.
