Tattoo hygiene ratings

The Tattoo Hygiene Rating Scheme is a nationwide scheme that grades tattooists and their premises. The grading reflects the standard of infection control and best practice in the management of their work. This is done by means of an inspection every three to five years and regular audit.

The scheme is voluntary and aims to help inform the public of where good, safe and hygienic procedures are followed and help drive standards in tattooing forward.

Businesses are inspected and graded based on standards of infection control and best practice in management of their work. Ratings range from 1 star (needs improvement) to four star (very good).

Check the grades of all participating Horsham businesses in our Horsham Tattoo Hygiene Rating Scheme leaflet.

All tattooists are required to be registered with their local authority. If you suspect a tattooist is not, please email ehl@horsham.gov.uk with details.
