About the role:

Horsham District Council is looking for a Registration and Validation Officer to contribute to the delivery of an efficient and effective Planning service for Horsham District Council. Including processing and validating applications, and matters allocated by the Planning & Building Control Support Team Leader, enabling the delivery of quality developments in line with legislation, industry performance guidelines and internal targets.

As a Registration and Validation Officer you will be carrying out a wide variety of administrative tasks for the team, such as registering and validating applications. You will be responsible for receiving and checking new planning and related applications, to ensure they contain sufficient information for our Planning Officers to consider them. You will also liaise with customers to obtain missing information and handle a range of customer enquiries both on the telephone and by email, data entry, and carrying out other duties including running weekly reports on applications and liaising with our Planning Officers.

Your role will also include providing technical advice and assistance to members of the public and other in-house Council departments, on matters of Planning fees and applications through all mediums. As well as undertaking various administration tasks with other internal departments and statutory bodies to ensure timely liaison and appropriate actions.

Full training will be provided.

About you:

To succeed as a Registration and Validation officer you will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, GCSE Grade C or above required in Maths and English Language (or equivalent). You will be experienced in administration and clerical procedures including dealing with the telephone, knowledge and experience of databases, document management and finance processes. You will also be able to manage your own workloads and prioritise tasks with the ability use your own initiative to find solutions to problems identified and deal effectively with difficult situations or customers. Experience of planning is desirable but not essential.
