About the role:

Horsham District Council is looking for a Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Support Lead (Maternity Cover) to join the wider Community Development team to provide direct support to the voluntary and community sector within the District, as well as understand the needs of and provide a voice for the sector in relevant strategic meetings and forums.

The work of the voluntary and community sector within Horsham District is wide ranging and provides huge benefits to many local people and communities. It is important that local voluntary groups and charities are able to thrive and grow and this role will help them in this.

As the Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Support Lead (Maternity Cover), you will work directly with the voluntary and community sector to understand their needs, and work with statutory partners and other local infrastructure organisations to strengthen the capacity of the sector. Duties will include one to one support for groups on set up or governance issues, bringing groups of interest together, identifying suitable training and attending relevant forums and meetings to represent a voice for the sector on issues that affect them. You will have line management responsibility for the Volunteer Advice and Support Co-ordinator and manage a budget.

About you:

To succeed as the Voluntary Sector Infrastructure Support Lead (Maternity Cover) you will be a self-motivated individual with previous experience of working with both voluntary organisations and statutory partners. Good organisational skills are essential as well as the ability to communicate with a range of people from different backgrounds, both verbally and in writing. You will have good influencing skills and have the ability to work in partnership and offer solutions to strengthen the capacity of the voluntary sector. This role is an essential car user post, therefore, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
