About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a Yard and Vehicle Co-ordinator to assist in the successful operation of Hop Oast Depot services and contribute directly to the efficiency and safety of depot-based activities.
The Yard and Vehicle Co-ordinator supports daily operations by ensuring equipment and materials are stored correctly, and vehicles are parked safely and practically to allow for the smooth and safe departures the following morning. As the Yard and Vehicle Co-ordinator you will ensure the yard environment (including the workshop and depot areas) is maintained in a clean, tidy and hazard free state, ensuring staff safety at all times. You will organise parking of vehicles on their return to the depot, acting as a reversing assistant where required and responsible for ensuring vehicles are parked in an organised, safe and suitable manner. As directed and required by your manager, you will assist with the transportation of crew members to various locations to support the efficient service delivery of waste and recycling operations across the district. You will also be required to transport parts, tools and vehicles for MOT’s and other vehicle checks to support the maintenance and repair of the vehicle fleet.
About you:
To succeed as Yard and Vehicle Co-ordinator, you will be able to communicate with a range of people including drivers, fitters, and all users of the depot. You will have a good basic standard of education alongside numeracy and literacy skills to complete paperwork/ forms accurately. You will also be able to follow instructions and be able to use a PC/ Laptop or tablet. As you may need to transport crew members, vehicles, parts and tools on occasions, a Category C driving licence and ability to work alone safely and independently is essential.

Council Vehicles
As this role requires the post holder to drive Council vehicles, periodic driving assessments will be required.
