LEAP success stories

Be inspired by some examples of how local businesses have been using their LEAP or Green LEAP grants to help future-proof their business.

Green LEAP Grant recipients

Wolfpack

Bee Cosmetics, Horsham

“Receiving the Green LEAP grant has significantly impacted our business, enabling us to launch three green projects, including a glass return and refill programme for our customers.

In the highly competitive skincare industry, this sustainable initiative provides us with a crucial competitive advantage, helping us to stand out and appeal to eco-conscious consumers.”

"The LEAP grant has enabled us to upgrade our lighting system to energy-efficient LED lights, and we’ve already noticed a reduction in energy consumption. This upgrade has also modernized our facility, creating a brighter and more welcoming space for our members. It supports our long-term goal of maintaining a sustainable business model while expanding our wellness offerings and minimizing our environmental impact.

The grant made it possible to complete this project this year with less financial strain, allowing us to further invest in the growth of our services."

Cabin pressure spirits

Cabin Pressure Spirits, Horsham

“Using LEAP grant funding, we have made improvements to our still to further increase its energy efficiency and reduce wastage. The funding has allowed us to invest in a more powerful, variable-speed vacuum pump which is associated with a controller that regulates the level of vacuum in the still. The greater stability of pressure significantly reduces power consumption and product vapour loss. As such, the LEAP grant funding has allowed us to reduce our manufacturing costs and environmental impact.”

Heath Flower Farm

Heath Flower Farm, Pulborough

“The LEAP grant will help us reach our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and will also extend the period of the year we can accept guests.

An extra solar battery and solar panels will provide electricity when solar energy is scarce in winter, and highly efficient infrared heating panels will prevent pipes from freezing in very cold conditions.”

Jacob's Bagels

Jacob’s Bagels, Pulborough

“Thanks to the generous support of Horsham District Council and Green LEAP Fund, we have been able to install solar panels and electric car chargers at our bakery! This green initiative not only helps us reduce our carbon footprint but also encourages electric car owners to visit our bakery."

We believe in supporting sustainable living, and we can't wait to see more electric vehicles in our parking area.”

Nafici staff

Nafici Environmental Research, Horsham

"Nafici Environmental Research (NER) has developed a process that converts agricultural by products, such as wheat straw, into pulp corrugate and moulded packaging applications. The process is patented. We have built an R&D plant in Horsham in 2014 to showcase the technology.

The LEAP Grant will make a very big difference in our future plans as it partly funded some essential trials with UK and European equipment suppliers for our industrial scale operation.”

Tottington Manor, Henfield

"Our aim at Tottington Manor is to be as sustainable as we can.

Our two biggest costs are heating and chilling, whilst our big ideas to introduce solar and create heat from our refrigeration are still a couple of years away, we have just been commissioning our new log burners in our Olive Lounge and Inglenook. These not only look great, but also one of the units used the excess heat from log burning to preheat our water going into our central heating and hot water system to reduce the amount of oil we use in colder months.

A big thanks goes to Horsham District Council  for their support through the Green LEAP awards."

LEAP Grant Recipients

exhilHRate, Horsham

exhilHRate received a LEAP grant to fund a new website:

"I received the LEAP grant to support a rebrand in my business. I was able to use the LEAP grant to completely overhaul my website, which was no longer fit for purpose. On top of a brand new website, I had a full SEO rewrite, new graphics and headshots.

Even better I was able to use local business owners to do all this work and support, which was brilliant to give back to our community!"

Kindred Sauna, Dial Post

"I was starting my mobile sauna build, and only had a small budget, so the first grant was a huge boost. The grant process also helped me to dive deep and produce a full business plan and modelling future income which was a brilliant exercise to help me make sure my plan was viable. The first grant went towards some of the carpentry costs.

When it came to 2024, I moved the sauna to a new semi-permanent site and the second LEAP grant I applied for in 2024 went towards purchasing a new laptop, paying for a photoshoot with a professional photographer as well as a website upgrade.

I am very grateful to Horsham council for  their support, it has really helped develop my confidence and allowed me to upgrade some important parts of my business."

Seofon staff

Seofon Business Service, Horsham

“We have been the beneficiary of 2 LEAP grants over the years, the first to improve the working conditions for our team by installing LED lighting which is also an environmental improvement to the facilities.

"The second was to purchase laptops for our team to replace the older desktop machines that were soon to become outdated for new technology. The new machines have improved the speed of the processing and enabled us to consider opportunities to make the working environment better still as they are more flexible as well as be reactive for changes in work patterns required due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Wolfpack

WolfPack, Horsham

WolfPack received a LEAP grant to fund a rebrand to create their own identity for their bakery, café and wine bar.

"Thank you so very much for this wonderful news, we are really grateful to have been accepted."
