What is smoke nuisance?
Burning waste produces smoke that contains pollutants that can have damaging health effects and cause a nuisance to people living nearby.
There are no laws in Horsham District to ban bonfires or domestic fires. However, we encourage all residents to be considerate of their local communities and the environment by not having bonfires and using clean fuel.
You may be able to report a smoke nuisance as a statutory nuisance if it is regular and causing serious harm. Please read the following pages to find out more.
