West Chiltington neighbourhood planning
West Chiltington Parish Council has prepared West Chiltington Neighbourhood Development Plan (WCNDP). The Plan set out a vision for the future of the parish and planning policies which will be used to determine planning applications locally.
The independent examination of the West Chiltington Neighbourhood Plan has now concluded and the final Examiner’s report was received on 11 February 2026. In accordance with the relevant legislation, Horsham District Council in consultation with West Chiltington Parish Council has published the Decision Statement on the 20 March 2026. An updated version of the West Chiltington Neighbourhood Plan is also published with agreed modifications included. Details of the referendum will be provided as soon as possible.

Examination
Andrew Ashcroft (MRTPI) has been instructed by Horsham District Council to hold independent Examination of the West Chiltington Neighbourhood Plan.
The Examiner’s Report on the West Chiltington Neighbourhood Plan was received on 11 February 2026. The report has completed the fact checking stage. The Examiner concludes that, subject to a series of recommended modifications, the Neighbourhood Plan meets all the necessary legal requirements and should proceed to referendum.

Draft Plan Submission
The submission draft WCNDP can be viewed on the West Chiltington Regulation 16 Consultation webpage. The Council will prepare for examination of the West Chiltington Neighbourhood Development Plan in the Spring of 2025. The Council will release further updates in due course.

Area approval
Under Regulation 7, the Neighbourhood Plan Area was designated in February 2014.

Under Regulation 5 and 6, West Chiltington submitted an application for designation in 2013. The consultation took place November 14 2013 to December 26 2013.
