Sign up for garden waste collections

Garden waste disposal is a paid-for service in Horsham District. You'll get convenient kerbside garden waste collections for a whole year for just £59 a year.

  • The service runs for a 12 month period from 1 April to 31 March
  • We make 25 collections per year. Bins are collected every two weeks, except at Christmas
  • Visit our Garden waste bin page for information on what you can and cannot put in your garden waste bin
  • There is no discount for signing up part-way through the year
  • If you do not have a garden waste bin at your home, you will need to buy one when you sign up for the service. The garden waste bin has green sides and a brown lid. Garden waste bins cost £53 for a 140 litre and £58.50 for a 240 litre bin
  • You can sign up extra bins to the service for £59 per bin, per year.

You can sign up to pay by direct debit each year, or pay by card.

What you can and cannot put in your garden waste bin

You can put all of the following in the garden waste bin:

  • Plant prunings
  • Grass cuttings
  • Twigs and small branches (no larger than the width of your wrist)
  • Old or used compost
  • Leaves
  • Weeds
  • Flowers

Please do not put the following in the garden waste bin:

  • Pet bedding or pet waste
  • Plastic bags and liners
  • Household rubbish
  • Household recyclables
  • Food waste, including peelings and egg shells
  • Stones and hardcore
  • Soil
  • Packaging labelled as compostable

How to label your garden waste bin

To match your bin to your garden waste subscription, we need the back of your bin to be clearly labelled with your house name or number.

If your bin is not labelled, we will not be able to match it up and it will not be collected.

As long as we can clearly see your house name or number on the back of your bin, you can identify it any way you like.

Stencils, stickers or paint all work well.

If your bin is not labelled, we will not be able to match it up and it will not be collected.

Please ensure the back of your bin is clearly labelled with your house name or number.
